Writing and Performing - A Unified Approach

WHAT IS IT? Claire Dowie will illustrate her unique approach to both writing and performing her acclaimed solo theatre shows. HOW WILL IT WORK? The workshop introduces useful techniques for the creation and development of character and narrative and explores the difference between acting and performing. You will be encouraged to discover your characters' stories, allowing them to emerge organically without manipulation. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Claire Dowie

Claire Dowie is an award winning writer, performer and comedian whose work is performed regularly all around the world. Twelve stage plays, including Adult Child Dead Child and Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? are published in three collections by Methuen who also publish Claire’s first novel Creating Chaos. Claire has written extensively for BBC radio and television drama and teaches at schools and colleges around the country. Currently Claire is working on a large-scale theatre show with music for Stage 2 Youth Theatre in Birmingham. www.clairedowie.co.uk
