Tutor: Tom Wright

Tom is a London based playwright, theatre director and producer, originally from Coventry. He is currently the Head of Artist Development for The Old Vic. His two back-to-back debut plays were nominated for seven Off West End Awards including Best New Play and Most Promising Playwright.

Writing credits include: Undetectable (King’s Head Theatre), My Dad's Gap Year (Park Theatre), I Ain't Dumb (Theatre Royal Stratford East) and Rebel Song (The Other Palace). Short work includes: Broadcast (Old Vic New Voices), Three Sunrises (The Other Palace) and I, We, Me (Vaults Festival).

Directing credits include: Tumble Tuck (King’s Head Theatre, Underbelly Edinburgh, Soho Theatre and Old Vic New Voices). Rehearsed readings include: The High Table, Blowhole, Sacrilege (Park Theatre), Fledglings (Criterion Theatre), Bedtime Story (Theatre Royal Stratford East), Claire (Arcola) and My Dad's Gap Year/An Invitation (Tristan Bates Theatre). Assisting credits include: Legendary Children (Theatre De Meervaart) and 2.1 (Rich Mix, Camden People's Theatre).

Tom initially trained as an actor at the Guildford School of Acting. He has participated in the Royal Court, Soho Theatre and Finborough Theatre’s playwright groups, Mercury Musical Development’s advanced writers’ lab, and Young Vic’s directors’ programme. Tom is also a Senior Reader at Theatre503 and a mentor for Arts Emergency.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to make a workshop you have booked, we cannot transfer bookings. You must cancel and rebook. If a member is eligible for a refund, you will receive an automated refund into your Actors Centre account. We do not refund onto payment cards or into bank accounts. Any refund will incur a £2.00 administration charge which will be debited from your Actors Centre account.

You can request 100% of the workshop cost refunded to your account, less the £2.00 administration charge, up to two weeks before the event or workshop’s scheduled start date. If you provide less than two weeks’ notice for a cancellation, the below charges will apply.

An 80% refund will be credited to your Actors’ Centre account and can be requested up to four working days (96 hours) before the event or workshop’s scheduled start. No refunds can be processed after this time unless we are able to resell your place from a waiting list.
