The Actors Centre

Viewpoints: An Introduction

WHAT IS IT? A two-day practical introduction to the fundamentals of Viewpoints as articulated by choreographer Mary Overlie and adapted for actors and directors by Anne Bogart and Tina Landau. HOW WILL IT WORK? Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of Viewpoints, work with the technique on an individual level and as part of an ensemble, and apply the technique to a chosen or volunteered piece of text. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Viewpoints allows artists - alone or together - to create work spontaneously and intuitively. It fosters a sense of ensemble, as well as deepens the individual’s sensitivity whilst onstage whether in rehearsal or performance. The practice of Viewpoints develops your ability to read what is being made in the process of making it. Viewpoints ultimately strengthens your articulation, and clarifies emotional, intellectual and physical flexibility. Price: £60.
