Thinking and Reacting Truthfully - From Script to Screen

WHAT IS IT? This two-part course will give you lots of practice and knowledge in storytelling, camera technique, preparation and rehearsal techniques, and information about audition/self-taping and working on set. HOW DOES IT WORK? We will work in a small group on personal stories, monologues, improvisations and scenes from film and TV drama scripts. Participants should come with a prepared, learned monologue from a screenplay that they think suits them (but they haven’t worked on before), and a personal story/event that they are happy to share with the group. Through personal stories we will explore the principles of storytelling and characters - understanding how we function as human beings from each situation to the next. The first session will focus on the given circumstances of the story, life, character drives and functions as well as units, goals and tactics of the character. Day two will focus on building a character through mono-/duologues into a multidimensional human being through creating thoughts, memories and relationships to this character – yourself - in the given circumstances. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? This will be an extremely practical and lively workshop in a supportive, fun and relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the two sessions participants will feel more confident as storytellers on and off camera, enabling more confidence in ‘thinking and reacting truthfully’ on camera. Price: £65
