The 7 Levels of Tension

WHAT IS IT? A day-long workshop learning Lecoq’s 7 Levels of Tension. . HOW WILL IT WORK? In the morning you will go through the levels of tension themselves and get familiar with them. After lunch you will start to improvise with them and to end with you will get a chance to work on a short piece of text of your own choosing. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? You will gain a new awareness of what your body is actually doing while you act and you will develop an ability to be able to use levels of tension to make more interesting and unexpected choices in your acting.You will also have a lot of fun as you re contact the playful spirit that got you acting in the first place. Ed Woodall

Ed trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He has worked as an actor at the National, the RSC, ETT, Complicité, Improbable and Kneehigh, with directors such as Katie Mitchell, Simon McBurney, Phelim McDermott, and Emma Rice. Ed has several high profile movie credits including Master and Commander, Emma and Enigma. He is also an award-winning theatre director (Time Out Live Award for Een Hond Begraven). He has taught at the NT Studio and at many drama schools including Central, East 15 and Rose Bruford. Ed has been developing his teaching for the last 8 years at the Oxford School of Drama where he teaches Masks, Clowning and Buffoon. Ed is also a fully qualified Feldenkrais practitioner.
