Shakespeare: The Masculine and the Feminine - Who's Got the Power?

WHAT IS IT? We will explore the power balance in relationships, and the factors - sex, control, money, honour - that affect what goes on between two people. HOW WILL IT WORK? We will work on a selection of one-on-one scenes, plus audition speeches and technique to make sure YOU are in the room. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Ian Wooldridge

Ian Wooldridge was Artistic Director of The Royal Lyceum Theatre Company, Edinburgh, and TAG Theatre Company at the Citizens Glasgow. He has directed numerous productions of Shakespeare in Britain, the USA and Chile, plus work by Moliere, Hauptmann, Buchner, Marlowe, Beaumarchais and Euripides. Productions of modern classics include work by Pinter, Beckett, Chekhov, Brecht, Lorca, Kane, Shaw, Miller, O’Neill, Frisch, Wilde, Williams, Osborne, Albee, O’Casey, Fo, McGrath, Simon, Bridie, and Ibsen. He has also directed work by contemporary playwrights including Mark Ravenhill, Shelagh Stephenson, Will Eno, Steven Berkoff, Chris Hannan, Tankred Dorst, Jim Cartwright, Bernard-Marie Koltes, John Byrne, Barrie Keeffe, Trevor Griffiths, Athol Fugard and Martin Crimp. His adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm has been performed worldwide, and is published by Nick Hern books. Dean of the British American Drama Academy (BADA) 1996-2016.
