Rehearsing and Performing a Monologue

WHAT IS IT? An intensive workshop on rehearsing and performing a monologue, exploring approaches to the process and with a chance to share your own work/experiences. HOW WILL IT WORK? The workshop is led by director David Mercatali and performer Sean Verey, the team behind Tonight with Donny Stixx, for which Sean won The Stage Best Solo Performance award in Edinburgh. The workshop will start with forming an understanding of the specifics of monologue performance, followed by an extract of David and Sean's rehearsal room process on Donny Stixx. Using a provided text or their own work, participants will then perform an extract from a piece and explore different approaches to its rehearsal and performance. WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF IT? Confidence in approaching a monologue for performance. A better understanding of the specific demands of performing a monologue, and of how to keep monologues dramatically active and responsive to their audiences in performance. A better understanding of the director/performer relationship when working on a monologue. A chance for feedback on a piece you're currently working on. Price: £40
