WHAT IS IT? Essential information specifically geared to individual actors - of particular value to drama school graduates and young professionals - about headshots/photographers, resumes, key-note letter writing, agents/casting directors, repertory/fringe theatre, networking, show reel, internet resources and websites. (Private 50-min sessions). HOW WILL IT WORK? Interactive one-to-one advice and marketing strategy will be factored in to these exploratory and in-depth sessions which offer an analytical and constructive approach to the mechanics of self-promotion, fine tuning the USP (unique selling point), and clarifying your branding image in order to capitalise on the relationships you are developing with casting directors, and increase awareness of your niche market to agents. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Increased confidence and awareness to capitalise on your professional experience, exposure, and casting potential; how to implement a marketing plan with an overview specifically targeted at your branding image and structured to complement current casting trends and TV/film genres to maximum effect. Phil Shaw

 Phil trained as an actor at The Webber Douglas Academy and has worked in the theatre, film and TV industry for over 25 years. He was also an agent with ICM (now ITG) and has independently cast commercials for JWT, Great Guns and Ridley Scott Associates. His casting credits include – Marguerite Duras’ Days in the Trees with Corin Redgrave and Rachel Kempson (BBC Radio 4), People Are Living There and The Chalk Garden with Constance Cummings (Kings Head); The Turn of the Screw (UK No 1 Tour); The Last Post with Gael Garcia Bernal (BAFTA nominated; Grand Prize – Berlin Film Festival), Romans 12:20 (Grand Jury Prize, ARPA Los Angeles), Deckies (Channel 4); casting consultant on Leo Media Group’s Love & Virtue and UK casting on the feature Italian Movies. He’s currently doing principal casting on the epic TV mini-series 1066-Conqueror for 24 creator, Robert Cochran (Exec Producer) & Conquest Prods & Sky TV. Phil is also a casting consultant to the National Film & TV School, a guest tutor at Central Film School, voice/audition technique coach, a career marketing consultant at The Actors Centre, and gives casting seminars at RADA, Central, LAMDA , The Old Vic New Voices and Spotlight Stand Up Drama. He also runs an actors' one-to-one and Skype consultancy/mentoring service.
