The Actors Centre

Improving Physical Creativity

WHAT IS IT? An intensive physical workshop exploring movement as a tool for creative expression within performance. HOW WILL IT WORK? Over two days, movement teacher and theatre maker Campbell Edinborough will lead a series of practical exercises developed from his engagement with the Feldenkrais Method, martial arts and Contact Improvisation. Participants will be introduced to a wide range of movement patterns (rolling, falling, crawling, lifting, balancing) before exploring their practical application within character work, improvisation and devising. Throughout the workshop participants will investigate the expressive qualities of movement within performance - exploring physical means of establishing character, tension and drama. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Participants will get the chance to develop their physical skills (balance, coordination and flexibility) in order to broaden their creative use of movement during devising, rehearsal and performance. Price: £60.
