The Actors Centre

From Audition to Performance

WHAT IS IT? A workshop offering actors the opportunity to explore screen auditions and performance, focussing on style, technical aspects and screen presence. HOW WILL IT WORK? We will start by breaking down the TV drama audition into very simple elements, working with bad scripts as well as good. As the workshop progresses we will consider purely technical aspects of working in front of the camera, contrasting the process with theatrical performance. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? We will explore some of the myths about acting for camera and consider the importance of adapting the style of acting to the nature of the material. Participants will discover what they each bring to a part through the way their face and presence work on camera. Price: £55.
