The Actors Centre

From Acting to Writing

WHAT IS IT? A practical one-day course for actors wanting to write, showing how to turn a performer's advantage over other writers into worthwhile material. HOW WILL IT WORK? Scripts will be devised, structured, written, developed and polished. You may write alone or with others; come along with just some ideas or with something already written. We’ll use a range of techniques, including improvisation, to make progress with your project. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? A more developed idea or script – for theatre, film, TV or web. Participants will be invited to form the nucleus of a writing and performance group, if they wish. And by the end of the day, participants will have more confidence in their resources and more awareness of how to deploy acting skills for writing. Price: £30.
