The Actors Centre

From Accident to Inspiration: Devising Theatre from Life

WHAT IS IT? This is an improvisatory and devising workshop designed to incite accidents, release inspiration and develop imaginative, unconventional and authentic theatre. HOW WILL IT WORK? The workshop will be divided into three key stages, mirroring the devising process that Amy has steadily developed over the last decade. Stage 1. Accident: Improvisation games and techniques to generate material. Stage 2. Inspiration: Brainstorming from material and further improvisation to develop it. Stage 3. Imagination: Devising and creative writing exercises; testing material in different shapes and sizes. (N.B. These stages are constantly interchangeable and feed one another - imagination can lead to accident to inspiration, etc.) WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? Sharpened improvisation skills and greater confidence in transforming accidental, madcap ideas into inspirational material for theatre. You may even leave with a new show in tow! Price: £30.

This workshop runs over 3 days
