The Actors Centre

Acting Lab: What Neuroscience Can Teach Us About Acting

WHAT IS IT? A three-part course for those interested in natural processes and how we can apply them to ourselves and our acting. A course for actors and directors. HOW WILL IT WORK? The course will aim to bring neuroscience and Stanislavski together showing how linked to current neuroscience his work is. We will explore the current scientific thinking regarding memory and creativity, looking at the structure of thoughts and how we might change them and finally, what is it we really mean when we say we our 'stuck in our heads'. We will use monologues, acting exercises and scientific tests to explore the material. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? A better understanding of Stanislavski's work, a better understanding of ourselves, that being 'lazy' has its benefits, and a glimpse of our own potential as actors and as human beings. Price: £54.
