Journey Through Life: Character Development For Actors And Theatre-Makers

Workshop Cap: 15 

Run Time: 1 hour 45 minutes

 

Led by Kayla Feldman, this workshop will encourage participants to shed inhibitions and follow their instincts through a long-form guided improvisation exercise. Using music, found objects, and text, participants will experience their character’s growth and development from birth, through significant moments in their life.

 

Please note: Participants should come prepared with a character in mind, and wear movement clothes.

 


Kayla Feldman is an Anglo-American writer and director who trained on the MA Theatre Directing course at Mountview and Shakespeare’s Globe Directing Studio. She is the Co-Founder of Snapper Theatre, Associate Producer for Maiden Speech, and a script reader for Hampstead Theatre and Nouveau Riche. Writing credits include: CICALA (short film, 2020) and Hear Me Out (Camden People’s Theatre, Maiden Speech Festival, Bunker Theatre). Directing credits include: A-GAY (Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin); We’ve Been Bette… (Theatre503); The Knock (Southwark Playhouse); The Colony (VAULT New Writing Award); Acceptance (as Assistant Director, Hampstead Theatre); and Lobster (Theatre503). She is a regular director for CASPA Arts and recently participated in Directors Lab North at Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.
