What is a bear doing in the middle of a train station in Central London? What does he have in that little suitcase he carried all the way from “darkest Peru”?
´From Darkest Peru´ is a puppetry and dance show, that invites you to travel with us to the unknown, sometimes feared but wonderful world of a land far away called Peru. Have you ever heard of a lovely little bear that carries the name of a famous train station and comes from “darkest Peru”?
In Quechua (Peruvian native language), we call him “Ukuku”. The Ukukus or Spectacled Bears are not only the last surviving species of bear in South America, but they are also idols in our culture because of their strength and courage. Join us in a journey where we will reveal the rich and wonderful world that an “Ukuku” or any migrant from Darkest Peru or anywhere in the world might bring in a tiny little suitcase standing in the middle of a train station in Central London.
You can expect stories, dances, animals and magical creatures, all intertwined in our traditional culture.
