The Actors Centre On Demand: Round 2 Submissions Now Open
The Actors Centre has today announced that the second round of submissions for its On Demand theatre season are now open. The first season, which played to national and international audiences, concluded on 3 January and presented five critically acclaimed productions in association with The Actors Centre including Alistair Hall's Declan, Bren Gosling's Moment of Grace, Cliffordkuju Henry's In Search of a White Identity, Kate Maravan's The Old House and Gemma Lawrence's Sunnymead Court as well as the continuation of the Latin American Season, curated by Untold Collectiv, which included nine productions from Latinx artists.
Productions should be between 30 - 90 minutes in duration and participating companies must own the digital rights to the production, or have the right to publicly stream the production, which should be filmed to a high-quality professional standard, suitable for online audiences. If you have a production which you think may be suitable for streaming but do not have a digital version, it is also possible to film your production in one of The Actors Centre’s performance spaces. If your production will need to be filmed in-house at The Actors Centre, it must be possible to do so in a socially distanced manner. In this instance, it is advised that a cast of one to four will work best will work best.
There is no limit to thematic or artistic expression or genre and The Actors Centre is seeking to support a range of diverse voices, themes and genres through its streaming platform. However, in this round, we are only looking for fully realised, developed productions and work-in-development will not be considered. You do not have to be based in London to submit your production and we encourage submissions from around the globe. To ensure that each production is accessible, each production will be required to provide a separate SRT file with closed captioning.
Theatre Programme Manager Mitchell Reeve said: "After a successful debut season, which reached global audiences, we are looking forward to presenting a second season of digital theatre. While the pandemic continues, we must continue to adapt to new digital models and while we all long to get back to live theatre, through our On Demand season, we are doing our utmost to support artists, the freelance community and encourage creativity during these challenging times.”
