The Mono Box is a collaborative, not for profit project with a big impact. The Mono Box responds to what actors and directors need and want by providing affordable access to a unique collection of 750 plays all donated by industry professionals, including Cillian Murphy, Olivia Colman, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Sheen, Juliet Stevenson and playwrights Alan Bennett, Caryl Churchill, Simon Stephens and David Greig. The Mono Box also runs a diverse programme of workshops and Speech Surgeries to compliment problems and questions that arise from auditioning, working and trying to keep going between jobs.
Come along to The Mono Box's monthly Play Browsing sessions and Speech Surgeries at the Actors Centre where you can find a new audition speech, try one up on its feet in front of a director for some feedback and attend a Q&A with a professional panel. Get advice from Polly, Joan and their team or just have a cup of tea and meet other actors who are in the same boat as you.
Joan is an actor having trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Cambridge University and NYT. Credits include Complicite, RSC, Bush Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Young Vic and BBC.
Polly is a movement director whose credits include RSC, National Theatre, National Theatre Scotland, Kneehigh, Trestle and Bush Theatre. She worked as a choreographer on both London 2012 Opening Ceremony and the Sochi Winter Olympics.
