Casting director Richard Evans leads a series of eight weekly workshops exploring the most effective ways of selling your performing skills to potential employers and how to stand out in an overcrowded marketplace.
This workshop runs over 8 days: 18, 25 October, 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 November, 6 December.
Monday 28 October, 10.30 - 13.30
Guided by actress and filmmaker Abiola Ogunbiyi, this workshop explores what is required to make the transition from stage to screen for the benefit any professionals wishing to firmly enter the film and television industry. The course will provide each participant with a plan of action tailored to their unique skills and potential.
Tuesday 5 November: 10.30 - 17.30
Mentor, speaker, and coach Charlotte Thornton leads this workshop on techniques to ensure auditions don't deplete your confidence and self-belief but rather build on it. Learn tips and tricks to get 'in the zone' and handle everything from the research to the interview, redirect, and post-audition analysis.
Thursday 7 November: 18.30 - 21.30
Want to write your own solo show or play and take it to Edinburgh Fringe and beyond? From the lightbulb moment of your initial idea for your show to lights up on the first performance of your Edinburgh Fringe premiere, actor, writer, producer and Edinburgh native Ruaraidh Murray will show you how it can successfully be done.
Thursday 21 November: 18.00 - 21.00
Led by actor Paul Cawley, this workshop examines different aspects of careers strategy from the perspective of an actor rather than a business. Consider the objective and obstacles of your headshot, Spotlight profile, and IMDB page.
Sunday 24 November & Sunday 1 December: 10.30 -17.30
Do you need to talk to camera to build a business online? Or do you want to present on mainstream TV? This 2 day highly practical workshop with presenting tutor and BBC-trained director Kathryn Wolfe, will give you techniques to present confidently to camera and take your existing skills to the next level.
This workshop runs over 2 days: 24 November & 1 December
Friday 29 November: 10.30 - 17.30
An afternoon of interactive discussion with actor, voice and audition coach Phil Shaw, geared to raise your professional visibility with an in-depth and cutting edge approach to managing and promoting your career.
