With our building closed until 22 June, our Workshop Programme team have began curating an online workshop offering that aims to bring a sense of routine — and distraction — from these very challenging times. This morning, we are launching the first in a slate of new online workshops, with lots more to be added in the coming weeks, which will span many of our in-house genres including screen acting, accent work and voiceover.
Our online workshops will be delivered via Zoom, beginning with member favourite The Poetry Group this Wednesday 1 April and continuing with a Morning Mindfulness session on Thursday 2 April and Yoga for Performers on Friday 3 April.
We want to ensure that we can properly pay practitioners to lead these workshops, however the prices of these workshops have been heavily reduced from standard in-house prices and many workshops will operate on a Pay What You Can system to ensure they are as accessible as possible to those who would like to participate. As with our standard workshops, some of these workshops will require an Actor or Industry membership to participate, however there will many workshops which are open to everyone, regardless of whether you have a membership to The Actors Centre or not.
In addition to our online workshops, we are also introducing a new initiative exclusively to our Instagram: #TheActorsCentreAMPLIFY, which will aim to shine a spotlight on actors who may have had showcases, auditions or productions cancelled due to COVID-19. Scroll down for more information.

With many actors’ showcases, auditions and productions now cancelled due to COVID-19, we wanted to use our platform to shine a light on your talents and help amplify your profile to the industry during this time. Our building may be closed, but our doors are always open and we want to continue supporting actors through this challenging and unprecedented time.
This initiative is open to everyone, including non-members. For the coming months, we will share your videos on our Instagram TV and at the end of each week, collate those posts into a news story on our website.
Create a short video (no longer than 2 minutes, filmed in landscape, mp4) showcasing your acting talent, e.g. delivering a monologue, performing some improv, or showcasing your comedy prowess.
Note: These videos will be reviewed by our team before they are published. Please avoid choosing any monologues that place an emphasis on abusive or misogynistic language. We want these videos to be as inclusive and representative as possible, but we will not share anything that may trigger or discriminate against our audiences. Please consider this when choosing your monologue or performance piece.
Fill in this short form to tell us a little bit about yourself and why you chose to share this piece of work.
Send your videos via Google Drive or WeTransfer to Jamie Tuohy, Marketing and Communications Manager on [email protected]. If you are sending directly via WeTransfer or Google Drive, please ensure to include your full name and the title of your chosen performance piece in the message before sending.
Be sure to stay tuned to our website and social media as we will be announcing more online workshops in the coming weeks.
