The Actors Centre Meets is back and what an incredible first guest we have lined-up! As arguably one of the UK’s most prolific and respected actresses, we are delighted to announce Denise Gough as the first guest for the second series of our Meets interview series.
Described as “an extraordinarily gifted chameleon actress”, Denise Gough’s reputation precedes her. Synonymous with an unyielding dedication to the craft of acting, after decades of hard work, Denise Gough became a UK theatre “sensation” following her 2015 Oliver-winning performance in Duncan Macmillan’s People, Places & Things.
In addition to her critically acclaimed performance in People, Places & Things for which she also won an Obie Award, Denise Gough received her second Olivier Award for her portrayal of Harper Pitt in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America; a performance which transferred to Broadway and also garnered her a Tony Award nomination.
A graduate of the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), Denise has worked across stage and screen, with notable screen credits including Jimmy’s Hall, Colette and Monday. However, the stage is Denise’s first love and she has become known as somewhat as a doyenne of theatre, having performed on many of the UK and Ireland's most prominent stages including The National, The Royal Court, Wyndham’s Theatre and the Lyric Hammersmith in addition to the Abbey Theatre and Gate Theatre in Ireland.
Following her professional debut in Robbers at our Tristan Bates Theatre nearly twenty years ago, Denise Gough joins The Actors Centre Meets on 9 March to chat through her remarkable career.
