Joanna Lumley Appears on ITV's This Morning to Discuss The Actors Centre Fundraising Appeal

30 April 2020

BAFTA award-winning actress, presenter and activist, Joanna Lumley, OBE, appeared on ITV's This Morning to discuss our urgent fundraising appeal to #SupportTheActorsCentre. We are hugely thankful to Joanna for highlighting the vital work that grassroots charities such as The Actors Centre do to support the talent that plays such a crucial role in the UK’s creative industries.

In case you missed it, watch the clip below:

Joanna kickstarted the campaign by sharing a #SupportTheActorsCentre selfie and we encourage all our members to do the same on social media, including the hashtag and @theactorscentre in your post, to help us raise awareness and increase donations.

About The Actors Centre Fundraising Appeal  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀

As an unsubsidised charity, we rely on our workshops, theatre and membership income to stay afloat. COVID-19 represents the biggest threat in our organisation’s 42-year history and with our building currently closed; we are set to lose as yet unquantifiable and vital income.

These are impossibly difficult times for so many people and we know it will not be an option for everyone, but we are kindly asking for donations — no matter the size — to help our organisation survive.

Our members and audiences are at the heart of who we are and what we do and without a building for them to network, create and perform, we risk losing a vital and essential safe space. The arts can bring solace in times of distress, but they are often seen as ancillary and now more than ever, they will need support. Our small, but incredibly dedicated team are prepared to work harder than ever before to find new, innovative ways to keep our programmes alive online because we recognise that in uncertain and troublesome times, a semblance of routine can bring joy—and maybe even distraction.

However, we cannot do it without your support. Your donation will go towards keeping the building running while we are closed and safeguarding our future so that we can re-open when the time comes, with dynamic programmes of work that will continue to support actors and creatives for many years to come.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are in a position to do so, please click the donate button below to donate whatever you can to help safeguard The Actors Centre during these incredibly difficult times.
