Updated on 20 May 2020:
In line with recent announcements from government and the Society of London Theatre, The Actors Centre is working towards a 6 July 2020 reopening. Please note that this does not necessarily mean the organisation will be open to members or that in-house workshops and performances will commence on this date. The situation will be monitored daily and updated in accordance with the appropriate advice. This date will be shifted if required, to ensure and protect public safety. All in-house workshops and theatre performances during this time will cease and be rescheduled where possible.
The safety of our members, audiences and workforce is paramount, and in these increasingly worrying and unprecedented times, now more than ever, it is important to support each other. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members, artists and audiences who have been in touch with messages of support, and we want to do as much as possible to continue to offer a programme of work during these uncertain times.
During this period of building closure, we are running a virtual workshop season. These will consist of some much-loved member favourites from our current April – June season, as well as the addition of some new workshops. As we want to be able to properly pay workshop practitioners to lead these sessions, as with our standard in-house workshops, there will be a cost attached to certain workshops, however, this cost will be heavily reduced from standard prices. As we want to make this programme of online work as accessible as possible, there will also be a number of free workshops and masterclasses, alongside a series of initiatives set up to promote, inform and amplify those creatives for whom The Actors Centre is a vital resource. Please bear with us while we figure out the most practical and accessible way to move to an online-only offering for the coming months.

Donate to The Actors Centre
It has not been an easy decision to close The Actors Centre, but it is an essential one. We are a small team who work tirelessly to offer a year-round programme of workshops, masterclasses and theatre for our members and audiences and any period of closure means that our future is at risk. As an unsubsidised charity, COVID-19 represents an uncharted and worrying threat, and while we understand that this will not be possible for everyone, if you were in a position to make a donation to safeguard our future, then we would be extremely grateful. You can read more about how you can make a donation here.
Membership During COVID-19
With the organisation now closed until early July, we understand that some members may be worried about their membership. Please do not worry. We are freezing all memberships until we re-open. This means if your membership was due to expire in the coming weeks or months, we will freeze it from 17 March until we re-open; ensuring that you can return to The Actors Centre for whatever period is left on your membership.
If you would like to donate to The Actors Centre by purchasing a membership, that would be an enormous help during these difficult times. We are also freezing all start dates on new memberships until we re-open.
If you have already booked a space on one of our in-house workshops or a theatre ticket for the coming weeks, our Front-of-House team will be in touch to discuss next steps and refunds as soon as possible. We would ask, where possible, please allow us to contact you first as we are dealing with an unprecedented number of queries at the moment. We are working as quickly as possible to get in touch with everyone during this challenging time.
If you are in a position to donate your unused ticket or workshop credit to The Actors Centre, it is hugely appreciated, however, we understand that this will not be possible for everyone. As such, we have amended our standard cancellation policy as follows:
Workshops for Members of The Actors Centre
From now until further notice, 100% of the workshop price will be credited onto your Actors Centre account. We are waiving the current 2 and 4 day notice periods in relation to credit.
Tickets for the Tristan Bates Theatre
We will accept any ticket refund requests and will refund onto the original payment method. We are waiving our current policy of no refunds or exchanges.
