Saturday 9 November: 10.30 - 17.30
When planning a play, often the hardest part is being clear about what we want to say; we may have numerous ideas jostling for attention but we can’t decide which one to pick, or we may find it impossible to pin down the crux of our idea. In this workshop, led by writer and Artistic Director Suzette Coon, you will lay the foundations to begin building your own play.
This workshop runs over 2 dates: 9 & 16 November.
Friday 8 November: 10.30 - 13.30
In this workshop, theatre director Audrey Sheffield will explore six imaginative steps you can use to help create inspiration, and to begin developing rich and layered characters, and a shared sense of the world of your play. Come away with a loose framework ready to be applied to any rehearsal or play.
This workshop is part of The Old Vic 12 season.
Monday 18 November: 10.30 - 13.30
With the help of actor Jason Riddington, in this workshop, through focused improvisation techniques, you will develop the tools to unlock a deep sense of truth and belief when developing character.
This workshop runs over 3 days: 18, 19 & 20 November.
Sunday 24 November: 10.30 - 17.30
Led by director and dramaturg Charlie Westenra, this workshop has been written to develop the skills of both directors and actors in creating new political work that react to current affairs. It will draw on a political theatre makers in the 20th and 21st Century to see how their methodology can inspire new work, which is rigorous, theatrical, responsive and develops a political argument.
Thursday 28 November: 10.30 - 17.30
Led by writer Guleraana Mir and director Madelaine Moore (The Thelmas), comes a practical guide to writing/creating a one-person show. Perfect for actors looking to make work for themselves. This workshop uses creative writing and performance skills to unlock the creativity of participants.
This workshop runs over 2 days: 28 & 29 November.
Thursday 5 December: 10.30 - 17.30
Led by Artistic Director Peter Bramley, this two-day workshop will help you to develop practical skills for staging and performing solo work; focusing specifically on the use of space, the body and the audience.
This workshop runs over 2 days: 5 & 6 December.
