Established in 1978, The Actors Centre is the UK’s leading professional development organisation, supporting actors throughout their careers. Through an unrivalled programme of diverse workshops and masterclasses — led by distinguished practitioners from the worlds of theatre, film and television — The Actors Centre provides an essential space for actors to network, share and create.

The Actors Centre is also home to the Tristan Bates Theatre, established in 1994 by Sir Alan Bates in memory of his son. As the Centre’s flagship venue, the Tristan Bates Theatre champions new writing and presents a year-round programme of work from emerging and established artists as well as world-renowned theatre companies.

The Actors Centre operates out of its own building in Covent Garden in the heart of the West End, London and is made up of several workshop/rehearsal spaces, the Tristan Bates Theatre, and the John Thaw Studio Theatre.

As a Front of House Officer, you will be joining a busy and lively frontline team, providing bespoke and high-level efficient customer service to our members, theatre patrons and the general public. We are looking for proactive and engaging individuals with proven multitasking and front of house skills. The post holder will be able to work flexibly across the organisation, ensuring a consistent high level of service to all areas. Successful applicants will be expected to work bank holidays, daytime, evening and weekend shifts subject to schedule.

Theatre Programme Administrator and Box Office Supervisor

This is a dynamic role for a highly motivated and creative individual who will provide support to the Theatre Programme Manager in a variety of administrative tasks, including website maintenance, issuing invoices and box office reports and liaising with incoming Producers on a variety of issues. Additionally, the successful candidate will ensure the smooth transaction of ticket sales and bookings for a busy box office and enhance the visitor experience by providing an informed and courteous point of contact for all visitors, audiences and staff, as well as incoming theatre companies.

This is an exciting time for the Actors Centre as we celebrate 41-years, prepare to undertake a capital development of our home and commence a rebrand of the organisation.

FAQ’s

Below you will find the answers to frequently asked questions about becoming at tutor at the Actors Centre. If you can’t find the answer you were looking for, please call reception.

Do I need to sell workshop places myself?

No, the Actors Centre will manage all sales of workshop places to our membership, and offer tutors a fee to run the class.

Do I need to offer a workshop for actors only?

No, we run a variety of workshop for other professionals who have an associate membership. We can also offer observer spaces in acting workshops for our associate members.

Can I hire a studio to run a workshop?

Our studios are available to hire, but not to run public workshops. If you would like to hire the space for a closed group, please speak to reception.

I haven’t heard back yet about my application, what should I do?

The Actors Centre receives a large number of applications from prospective tutors, and so it is not always possible to respond. If you have filled in the application form above, then we will have your information on file, and will be in touch if, and when, there is a suitable slot in the programme for your workshop. If the workshop you are proposing is already being offered at the Actors Centre, please give some thought as to why your workshop would work alongside it, or why it is different.
