Following the successful online debut of Alistair Hall’s one-person play Declan, The Actors Centre is now calling for submissions for work(s) suitable for streaming on actorscentre.co.uk/theatre.
Productions should be between 30 minutes – 1 hour in duration and participating companies must own the digital rights to the production, which should be filmed to a high-quality professional standard, suitable for online audiences. If you have a production which you think may be suitable for streaming but do not have a digital version, it is also possible to film your production in one of The Actors Centre’s performance spaces. If your production will need to be filmed in-house at The Actors Centre, it must be possible to do so in a socially distanced manner. In this instance, it is advised that one- or two-handers will work best.
There is no limit to thematic or artistic expression or genre and The Actors Centre is seeking to support a range of diverse voices, themes and genres through its streaming platform. Each production will be required to either embed captions onto their production's video, or provide a separate SRT file with closed captioning.
Theatre Programme Manager Mitchell Reeve said: "I am delighted that The Actors Centre is able to open up an online platform for presenting theatre, not only to continue the importance of telling stories but also to enable our productions to be received by a much wider audience. We were delighted with the success the digital play Declan received, gaining views from over 11 countries and we want to build on this and make sure your stories are being told as far and wide as possible."
“I am looking forward to reading many plays/musicals in the coming weeks and I hope The Actors Centre On Demand will bring some entertainment to theatre lovers everywhere."
There are a number of financial models available for streaming productions online, which can suit a variety of needs, these can be discussed upon application.
