Terms and Conditions of Membership
General
- All members must sign in and out. Please show your membership card each time you enter the building.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that we have your correct address, phone number and email address.
- The Actors Centre is a non-smoking venue (with the usual exceptions for certain theatre performances).
- The Actors Centre reserves the right to refuse or withdraw membership.
- The Actors Centre does not suspend or refund membership fees.
- The Actors Centre cannot take responsibility for any items brought to, or left on the premises.
- Members attend workshops at their own risk.
- Please arrive on time for classes as latecomers may not be admitted, and there will be no refund.
Booking Classes
Members can book classes online, by phone, email or in person.
For phone and email bookings, please provide your full name and membership number, course code and start date and payment details. If you have not heard back from the bookings office within 5 working days it is your responsibility to call and check your status. Please note that inclusion of cash, cheque or credit card details with your booking does not guarantee a place on the class. Payments will not be cashed until the bookings office has confirmed there is a place on the class.
If you wish to book a drop in class and pay on the day, you must call reception on the day of the class and reserve a place. If you wish to secure a place in advance, this must be done through the regular bookings and payments procedure.
If you are late for a class you have booked we reserve the right to refuse you entrance to the class without a refund so please be punctual.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend a class you have been booked on for any reason you must let the bookings office know as soon as possible. If you cancel before noon the previous working day (ie noon on Tuesday for a Wednesday class, noon on Friday for a Saturday, Sunday or Monday class) 80% of the class cost is refunded as credit.
If you have not paid, you will still be liable for the 20% cancellation fee. We do not transfer bookings - you must cancel and rebook. Once you are booked on a class (paid or unpaid), if you do not cancel, you will be liable for the class fee whether or not you attend.
Unfortunately, if you cancel a class you have booked later than noon the previous working day we must charge you the full fee. If you cannot attend a class on the day you must contact reception to let us know. You can phone 020 7240 3940, text to 07781 472652 or email reception@actorscentre.co.uk. If we do not hear from you, you will not be booked on that class again in the future. Non-attendance or persistent lateness is viewed as demonstrating a lack of professionalism that may be deemed incompatible with your ongoing membership of the centre.
Refunds will be given at the discretion of the company management.
Changes to the programme/ Class Cancellation
We make every effort to ensure that details are correct at the time of the brochure going to press, but we reserve the right to make changes without notice. Classes cancelled by the Actors Centre will result in 100% refund of the class costs. While we make every effort to inform members as early as possible of any class cancellation we cannot be held responsible for any other costs incurred with attending classes such as travel or childcare.
Code of Conduct
No violence, abuse or harassment of any form, verbal or physical, damage to equipment or premises or any form of illegal activity will be tolerated on the premises or its immediate environs. Anyone engaging in any such activities will have their membership revoked and the Actors Centre reserves the right to pursue matters further.
We expect our members to behave as professionals which includes being punctual for classes, informing us of any inability to attend classes and abiding by the regulations of the centre.
The tutors have the right to remove individuals from classes where their behaviour is deemed to be detrimental to the quality of the session for the majority.
Credit
Credit from cancelled or unavailable classes will be held on your Actors Centre account and may be used to pay for classes or membership renewal. If you would like your credit refunded, please make a written request. We make credit refunds at the end of each month in cheque form. If you are a member with credit whose membership has expired we may write to you and ask if you would like your membership renewed or your credit refunded. If you do not respond we will renew your membership with your credit. Six months after a membership expires, any remaining unclaimed credit will be absorbed by the Actors Centre.
Food and Drink
Food must not be consumed in any of the studio spaces. Hot drinks may be brought in in paper cups. For health and safety reasons crockery and cutlery must not be brought into the studio spaces.
The Actors Centre provides the Green Room Café for its members, serving good value hot and cold drinks and food. Food and drink purchased from outside retailers must not be consumed in the Green Room Café, although we do allow packed lunches from home to be eaten in the café area.
Guests
Full, provisional and associate members can sign in up to four guests. Please note you will need to meet your guests yourselves and sign them in. The Actors Centre reserves the right to refuse entry. Guests are not permitted to take part in or observe any classes without prior agreement with the tutor and the Actors Centre. Guests attending classes will be required to pay a guest membership fee in addition to the class fee.
Membership Renewal
Membership Renewal fees are £55 for one year/£37.50 for 6 months. If you renew before your membership expires you will receive a £5 discount.
Membership renewal is not automatic where there are questions over behaviour and standards of professionalism that are not compatible with the Centre’s code of conduct.
