Terms and Conditions of Membership

General

  • The Actors Centre reserves the right to refuse or withdraw membership.
  • Violence, abuse, harassment of any form, damage to equipment or premises or any form of illegal activity on the premises will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in any such activities will have their membership revoked and the Actors Centre reserves the right to pursue matters further.
  • Members attend workshops at their own risk and the Actors Centre .
  • The tutors have the right to remove individuals from classes where their behaviour is deemed to be detrimental to the quality of the session for the majority.
  • The Actors Centre does not suspend or refund membership fees.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that we have your correct address, phone number and email address at all times.
  • Please arrive on time for classes as latecomers may not be admitted, and no refund will be given.

Booking Classes

  • Classes must be paid for in advance
  • The Actors Centre does not accept cheques or American Express
  • Online Bookings: Classes are not reserved until you submit them for payment (i.e. press the “Pay” button). When you press the “Pay” button, you are deemed to have booked  yourself firmly on the classes in your basket and owe the Actors Centre the money for the total fees. If you do not complete the Worldpay process and simply leave the screen, close it, or your PC crashes, then you have still committed to pay for the course and you will be charged. Detailed online terms and conditions will appear at the time of booking.
  • Alternative Booking Methods: If you book classes in person, payment is required at the time of booking. If you book classes over the phone, credit/debit card details will be taken and payment will be taken at the time. If you leave a message and there are spaces available on the class you wish to book, you will be booked on and then contacted for payment details. If you cannot be reached we leave a voice message or send an email to confirm your booking. If you request to be booked onto a class via email, you will be emailed confirmation of the booking and asked to contact the Bookings Office at your earliest convenience to make payment.
  • When contacting the Bookings Office, please be clear whether you are simply making an enquiry as to availability or if you would actually like to book a place, as once we have confirmed your booking you will be liable for the class fee whether or not you have paid. If you have not heard from the Bookings Office within 5 working days, it is your responsibility to contact us to check the status of your booking.
  • If you wish to book a drop-in class and pay when you arrive, you must call the Bookings Office on the day of the class and reserve a place. If you wish to secure a place in advance, this must be done using the regular bookings and payment procedures.

Cancellations

  • If, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend a class that you have booked, you must let the Bookings Office know as soon as possible. If you cancel before noon the working day before the class is due to start, 80% of the class cost is refunded as credit. If you have not yet paid, you will still be liable for the 20% cancellation fee. Classes cancelled later than noon the working day before the class is due to start will not receive any refund. If you have not yet paid, you will still be liable for the full class fee.
  • We do not transfer bookings. You must cancel and rebook.
  • Once you are booked on a class (paid or unpaid), if you do not cancel, you will be liable for the class fee whether or not you attend.
  • If you cannot attend a class on the day you must contact the Bookings Office to let us know. If we do not hear from you, you may not be booked on that class again in the future. Non-attendance or persistent lateness is viewed as demonstrating a lack of professionalism that may be deemed incompatible with your ongoing membership of the Centre.
  • No refund will be available if you miss the first day of a course and the tutor refuses to accept you for the remainder.

Membership

  • If you renew before your membership expires you will receive a £10 class credit
  • The Actors Centre reserves the right not to renew your membership if there are questions about whether your behaviour and/or standard of professionalism are compatible with the Centres code of conduct.

Credit

Credit from cancelled or unavailable classes will be held on your Actors Centre account and may be used to pay for classes or membership. You may contact us to request a refund of your credit. To keep in line with banking procedures, refunds will be paid in the manner by which the original payment was made. Cash payments will be refunded by cheque at the end of each month. If you are a member with credit whose membership has expired we may write to you and ask if you would like your membership renewed or your credit refunded. If you do not respond we will renew your membership with your credit. Six months after a membership expires, remaining unclaimed credit will be absorbed by the Actors Centre.

Food and Drink

Food must not be consumed in any of the studio spaces. Hot drinks may be brought in in paper/polystyrene cups and cold drinks in re-sealable bottles. For health and safety reasons crockery and cutlery must not be brought into the studio spaces.

The Actors Centre provides the Green Room Cafe Bar for members and their guests, serving good value hot and cold drinks and alcohol. Hot drinks purchased from outside the Centre must not be consumed in the Green Room Cafe. We ask that members tidy up after themselves if bringing in food from outside to consume in the Green Room

Guests

Full, Intermediate and Associate Members can sign in up to four guests. Please note you will need to meet your guests yourselves and sign them in. The Actors Centre reserves the right to refuse entry. Guests are not permitted to take part in or observe any classes without prior agreement with the tutor and the Actors Centre. In the event that permission is given, they will be required to pay a guest membership fee in addition to the class or observer fee.
